Phoenixville Area School District (PASD) participates in the CollegeBoard® Advanced Placement Program. The AP program serves the Phoenixville Area High School (PAHS) students who are capable of pursuing college level studies, have met the prerequisites for the chosen course, and are interested in working at an advanced level. Through AP’s college-level courses and exams, students are able to earn college credit and advanced placement when entering their freshman year of college.
PASD currently offers 24 AP courses in all disciplines of study. Along with these advanced level courses come added costs for PASD and the high school students. Additional technology and classroom supplies are often required for the courses. In addition, upon completion of an AP course, it is expected that students will take the related AP exam in May of each school year. These tests cost over $90 which may cause a financial burden to some students. With help from the Phoenixville Community Education Foundation, PASD will be able to continue offering these AP courses and all qualified high school students will be able to sit for the AP exams.
