With the beginning of August comes the beginning of the back to school season! For most families, this means a trip to the store to stock up on backpacks and school supplies so that their children will start the school year off with all the necessary tools.

For some families, providing their children with the required school supplies is a financial hardship. As one of the PCEF flagship programs, Pack-A-Backpack assists these families in need, so that their children arrive at school on the first day with all the tools they need to be successful in the classroom.

Over the past 9 years, the Pack-A-Backpack program has been providing backpacks and school supplies to pre-school through high school students in the Phoenixville area. Through the generosity of local businesses, churches, and community members, PCEF has distributed over 3,100 backpacks and thousands of dollars in school supplies to these families in need.

PCEF is currently accepting donations of school supplies. Items we can use are:

  • #2 pencils
  • 2-pocket folders with or without fasteners
  • 1-subject spiral notebooks
  • Pens – red, black or blue
  • 8 count, 16 count or 24 count crayons
  • 12 count colored pencils
  • Large glue sticks
  • Erasers
  • Highlighters
  • Notebook paper packs
  • Composition books
  • 1″, 2″ or 3″ 3-ring binders

Drop boxes have been placed in the lobbies of the Phoenixville Federal Bank buildings located at 120 Main Street in Phoenixville and at 533 Kimberton Road in East Pikeland.
