What is your relationship to PASD? For example, do you / have you had children or family members in PASD schools?
I have a daughter in 3rd grade and a son who will enter kindergarten in the fall.

What motivated you to run for school board?

I believe that every student has the right to a high-quality public education that will prepare them for life long success. Unfortunately, our public school system is being tested like never before, and it is crucial that we have school board members who are focused on ensuring our schools remain a safe and welcoming place for all.

In your opinion, what are the major issues facing the Phoenixville Area School District? What are your suggestions to address these?
1. Successfully implementing our redistricting and opening the new school at Hares Hill in the fall of 2025; 2. We are quickly outgrowing our current high school — we need to start planning for an expansion or renovation to accommodate our increasing student population; 3. Protecting our school district from attacks on public education funding and attempts to marginalize groups of students — we need to work on securing fair funding from the state to help us counter any federal funding cuts and ensure the policies we have put in place to protect ALL our students are working.

What is your relationship to PASD? For example, do you / have you had children or family members in PASD schools?
I have two children currently in PASD. All three of my children will be in the district in the fall.

What motivated you to run for school board?

My motivation to run for school board stems from my deep belief in the value of community service and my desire to make meaningful contributions to our school district. As a parent with firsthand experience of both the strengths and challenges within our schools, I’ve developed a unique perspective that I believe can benefit our educational community. While I recognize the many achievements of our district that give us reason for pride, I’m guided by the philosophy that there is always room for improvement. This combination of community commitment, parental perspective, and dedication to continuous improvement drives my candidacy for the school board.

In your opinion, what are the major issues facing the Phoenixville Area School District? What are your suggestions to address these?
The Phoenixville Area School District is high performing, with a strong foundation of academic excellence.

My focus would be on:

Individualized student support—ensuring every child receives the specific resources they need to thrive within our successful system, from enrichment opportunities to targeted assistance.

Strong community engagement—incorporating different perspectives from families, educators, and community members in our decision-making to strengthen our shared educational vision.

Responsible fiscal management—balancing investments in educational programs while being mindful of community resources.

As a board member, I recognize my governance role is policy and oversight, working collaboratively to sustain our district’s high performance while addressing emerging challenges and opportunities.

Please list your education and professional background and local volunteer experience:

BS Petroleum Engineering, Texas A&M University
MS Mathematics, West Chester University
I spent several years as a practicing engineer, then as an at-home mom, and for the past 8 years have taught math at West Chester University.
I have served on the school board since 2020, as board president for 3 years, and am currently the longest-serving board member.

What is your relationship to PASD? For example, do you / have you had children or family members in PASD schools?
I am the parent of two PASD alumni (PAHS classes of 2013 and 2018) and was an active volunteer for many years. My kids have attended the old kindergarten center, Schuylkill Elementary, PAMS, and PAHS.

What motivated you to run for school board?

I applied for a vacancy on the board during the COVID lockdown because I thought I could provide a reasonable voice during a time of stress. My kids got what they needed from PASD, and I want to make sure that the next generation of Phantoms also gets what they need to thrive.

In your opinion, what are the major issues facing the Phoenixville Area School District? What are your suggestions to address these?
My #1 priority for the past 5 years on the board has been academics – working to ensure our graduates have the skills they need to successfully navigate the next phase of their lives. When Alan Fegley retired, I led the search for our new superintendent, Missy McTiernan, prioritizing effective administration of academic initiatives and successful experience with large facilities projects. I’ve also focused on district finances – making sure we balance the needs of our students, staff, and facilities with taxes we’re asking residents to pay, particularly given the recent changes to education policies at the federal level.

PASD is prioritizing effective use of data to give students the appropriate supports for academic success; the board has approved funding for several new curriculum initiatives focused on math and reading skills (middle school math skills in particular need work) as well as additional ‘data’ half days for teachers to analyze and plan based on test data. I would love the opportunity to continue this work. The board has also recently simplified school taxes, replacing the occupation tax (amount arbitrarily based on job title) with earned income tax, and eliminating the $10/person per capita tax. I’d like to continue in this vein, making sure PASD is using tax revenues thoughtfully and tapping into alternative funding sources whenever possible. In the next few years, PASD will need to make a decision on the high school facility (continue to maintain existing building? renovate / remodel? something else?), and we have begun the process to develop options and evaluate their pros and cons.

I'm an experienced Realtor with nearly 15 years of experience and hold an MBA in Strategic Management. I’m currently a PASD Board Director and have served organizations like Habitat for Humanity, The Urban League, and Rebuilding Philadelphia. In addition to real estate, I’ve held various operational leadership roles with experience in regulatory compliance, legal research, and trial preparation. Whether in public service or business, I’m committed to strategic, community-centered leadership that drives meaningful impact.

What is your relationship to PASD? For example, do you / have you had children or family members in PASD schools?
My eldest daughter is a proud Phantom, she graduated in 2024.

What motivated you to run for school board?

I’m running for re-election to the PASD School Board because I believe in the power of public education to transform lives and I want to continue ensuring that every student in our district has access to the resources, opportunities, and support they need to thrive. As a mother, a community leader, and someone who has proudly served on the board since 2021, I’ve seen firsthand the impact thoughtful policy, strategic decision-making, and collaboration can have on our students and schools. Over the past few years, I’ve worked hard to advocate for equity, support student wellness, and strengthen our educational programs- while also being mindful of the fiscal responsibility we owe to our community. My goal is to lead with integrity, listen with intention, and build a district that not only meets today’s needs but is ready for tomorrow’s challenges. I’m proud of the progress we’ve made, but there’s more to do. And I’m ready to keep doing the work.
